No time? Short On Energy? Need A Little Motivation?
How do you get ahead when there are so many daily responsibilities, chores and fires to put out in everyday life?
How do you accomplish the BIG GOALS in your life? You know…the ones that really matter!
I call accomplishing the BIG GOALS of life, EATING YOUR ELEPHANT because it often seems as impossible to realize our big dreams as it does to sit down and eat a whole elephant.
But…I’ve discovered a little philosophy that has allowed me to eat quite a few elephants in the last few years…and maybe it’ll help you too?
The underlying principle is in this little riddle:
How do you eat an elephant?
ONE BITE AT A TIME!
I shared this philosophy in a TeleSeminar with hundreds of folks around the world…and I called it the Eat Your Elephant Seminar.
I’m happy to now share it with you as the first presentation of Project Mom because I know from experience…what will keep you from being successful more than any technical learning and trouble is our own busy lives!
While we are juggling all the hippos in our life…we never get around to Eating Our Elephant.
Would you let me know what you think? Leave me a comment:-)

Good inspirational video.
I saw this about a year ago, and it still helps.

Ha! I just put up a blog and Magic of Making Up is right on top.
For the last five days I have been putting in 1aday articles.

I’m not very good at this but I’m learning.
“Good Luck On Your Project Mom.”

I definitely can use all the motivation I can get. Thanks and looking forward to following along with Project Mom!
Hey Travis, great stuff as usual.
Finding time to get everything done and taken care of has been one of my biggest obstacles and now I’m finally getting past it over the past year or so. Applying your teaching step by step has been a big factor in that, so thanks a ton.
Look forward to seeing more vids!
Sincerely,
Jason T. Nelson
You are absolutely right… It’s very difficult to balance a full time job, a full time family, and still find time to get this article marketing working. I’m psyched to see how this plays out.

Hey Travis thanks for the great video. I saw it sometime back and it really helped. You always provide great stuff.
Thanks for sharing Project Mom. I would love to see the look on her face when she opens her first check. It would probably look a lot like mine when I get my first check. (lol)
I know I have read(listened) to think and grow rich, which does help, But this seminar really does help to break things down the Elephant into bit size pieces.
Thanks for sharing!
Travis awesome stuff bro! Will definitely be following along!
Goal setting only depresses me. I just keep on working towards freedom!
Wow! You are the master of practical Travis!
Review – what’s important to you? What are you spending spending you time on?
Are they congruent?
No?
Decide on the first bite. Write it down! Put as much effort into it as you do for your travel plans
Take the simple first step (one bite at a time)- whatever that is for you.
I have never heard of the principles of success (in any area of your life) put in such a workable and practical way.
For a Southern, Kiwi, guy who now enjoys the personal and financial freedom I can attest that these simple principles, and actions, work!
Thanks Travis! What you’ve shared is so important I’m going to post it on my http://www.StartBusinessMentor.com blog so that all my team can take advantage of what you’ve shared.
Hi Travis.
I loved this TeleSeminar. I will start doing the minimum actions daily and the time log as I have trouble getting all my list done. I will now write articles instead of posts and see how that goes.
thanks for the information
All the Best
Edi
Hey Travis and everyone else,
Mike Long from Bring the Fresh here
I loved the broken wheel analogy… Travis, fixing my broken wheel surrounding health has always been a top predictor of my success.
It’s so funny how easy it is to forget how good of a bellwether our mood is of our ability to accomplish…
Two daily habits that really helped me get my health on the uptick that are a little counterintuitive:
1) 8-hours of sleep. (It can seem so tempting to cheat on sleep, but then I end up with more dumb and dangerous hours instead of a 16 great ones! Also when we’re tired is when we eat the most crap to keep ourselves awake.)
2) Eating better is the smarter first priority to health compared to rigorous workouts. Folks talk about getting to the gym, but the problem with this idea is that working out hard makes me hungrier…and when I’m eating crappy food already then I just increase my intake of crap! (Much smarter to focus ALL of my health energy first on sleep then on eating better. Loved how you started dining at home because it’s almost IMPOSSIBLE eat out and eat well because of all of the sugar and salt that restaurants pour into their foods!)
Love the idea of writing down and comparing your daily actions to your life dreams.
Another thing you mentioned that hit home was the military idea of “don’t expect what you don’t expect”.
I have followed a very similar formula that I got from a book, Who Says Elephants Can’t Dance by the guy who turned around IBM in the 1990s, Lou Gerstner:
“People respect what you inspect.”
Gerstner mentioned the idea as being his entire management philosophy.
I try to remember to use it to guide my actions any time I communicate and especially when I sit down to market.
One of my favorite authors is Jim Butcher. He writes the Dresden Files, a fun fantasy series about a wizard who solves crimes in Chicago. Anyways, something great Butcher does is constantly orients readers to who Harry Dresden, the main character is, and what’s going on in his life. What’s happened before and what he’s thinking now. I think it’s a big reason for his success. A lesser author would assume folks already know about Harry if they read it once, but we like to be reminded and reoriented!
Actually a funny Bring the Fresh case study I put together but haven’t done anything with is http://www.jimbutcher.org (despite me being asleep at the switch it’s a site that ranks #7 for Jim Butcher, a search term that gets around a million searches per year!)
Anyways, great stuff Travis and I look forward to your next post!
It’s all happening,
Mike Long
Travis,
This is just tooooo long 105 minutes. Don’t have time for this. Shorter videos would have been more helpful.
One bite at a time…. Like it Travis!
I got to hear the bits I missed before.
Thank You.
Great content as usual, looking forward to the mum videos.
Keep up the good work
Lots of information! Yes, it was a long call, but I listened to the video in 30-60 min. increments. First of all this gave me an opportunity to let what I heard really sink in. Secondly, it kept me from looking at the total time and saying, “Whoa, I don’t have that much time to spare!” Great Info! Can’t wait to hear the rest!
Hi Travis,
Thanks for this. I must say I was a bit put off when I saw the video was 105 minutes but I set aside time this Saturday morning to watch it and have found it useful and inspiring.
Now, to make sure that I act on it!
Hi Travis
Lots of good motivation here, but the biggest failing is ‘what are you going to have a business in?’ and what topic to base your business on?
My biggest frustration was not organisation, daily tasks etc – not having any income is motivation enough!
The getting started bit was a nightmare for me, going round in ever decreasing circles – not knowing what to do.
In the end, out of shear frustration, I thought -I know a lot about German Shepherd Dogs so I put my first website up based on the story of our own dogs.
It’s been a hell of a learning curve with all the ‘techie stuff’ but at least I’ve started!
Whether I’ll make an income from it – only time will tell.
You’re doing a grand job helping everyone and it’s much appreciated
Thanks
Graham in UK
P.S. Looking forward to joining in with Project Mom.
nice video Travis
Wow, long video, but worth it.
M.A.D. Is such a great concept.
I have all sorts of things I want to work on.
This will help me determine what I can handle each day.
Hi Travis,
Enjoyed listening to the teleseminar very much. And I wrote down the list that you asked of us (activities, life priorities). It will be very helpful. One of my next priorities is to buy a daily journal and start journaling my minimum action daily method. As I hope this will get me going and help get me started with a routine to work on chipping away at my health problems, then on to other issues, finances, etc. Keep up the great work.
Paul

Sorry, Travis.
I could not view either of these videos, so cannot leave a comment.
Kind regards,
Marlene
Thanks for this video, Travis. I have done another “version” of the MAD Method and today just brought it home to me and now has me anxious to get going on this. I have been a WA member for a month now and have only set up my clickbank account and gotten a Squidoo account. I am still confused by a lot of the lingo and what exactly to do next, so the Project mom, I think, will be a world of help.
Thank you so much for this.
Nancy
Hey Travis,
Just a quick comment on this video. First, I think it was a bit too long. It was hard for me to follow along mainly because your volume was too low.
I really think if it had been shorter, say 30 to 45 minutes, and the volume was louder, I would have found it much more appealing. Just the same, what I did hear was great. Thanks again for the great work that you do.
Bud Corwin
just got a chance to listen…..very informative! I will cue up one more today to listen to and begin to take action….lots of good tips to get started which I think is the hardest part of any endeavor!
Very interesting concept for organizing actions and work.Iwould suggest different mikes since your breathing interferred with being able to understand what you were saying.
Hi Travis, I’m just now able to catch up with emails and video sites! What can I say! Life gets insane at times!
I throughly enjoyed the video and all your excellent info. That elephant can sure be overwhelming but you gave great alternative solutions. Thank you so much! I look forward to the rest of the videos.
Brenda
I never realised I was driven – that’s a much better concept to work with than ‘impractical dreamer’!
Now with MAD I have a tool for bringing practical into the equation
Thanks!
How come I saw the titanic three times and I cant listen to a 105mins seminar?
wow my priority is surely misplaced..got to get my s%*t right.
thanks travis.
Hi Travis,
I got a lot from this video, as I do from all for your videos.
At the beginning you mention the impact of stress and pressure on the individual. Somehow one has to get a handle on this, as you mention.
You go into many great tips here. For good things to happen we need to create time and space to grow our dreams.
If we are stressed all of the time we carry this energy into our online projects and this gives bad results.
Love your message!
I enjoyed listening to the vidieo. Even today January 2011, the information is still very helpful. Thank you Travis and Jeannie.
Darlene
